In college, I took a course on spirituality and the basic tenets of what constitutes a religion. My professor, a plump little troglodyte, decided that a good portion of the lessons should consist of flat conversations filled with pontifications on “Who is the mind? Is it you, or is it some other being, who you interact with?” and rather interesting and assiduous case studies into paranormal behavior. I was heavily intrigued by the second topic. My friends and I would go to the bar - they had happy hour from three to six! - each day before class, and we’d stumble, too drunk, and plop our butts down for three hours of spiritual introduction.
I’ve written 2300 words so far. And I have 4 references to butts. I’ve lost what it takes to be a writer.

First writings. Hope I can keep it up!

I am a teacher, and I live just ten minutes from my school. I see high school students through tests and poems, and I try and get them to think for themselves. I figure, if I could learn to do it, these kids can learn to do it. Regardless of how many of them actually do, I have to stay optimistic about it.

Optimism is the key. Without optimism, the outside is dark.

Three days ago, I was given a promotion, and then I was given a raise. I was made to believe that the raise was separate from the promotion, that the raise was mandatory, and that the promotion wasn’t, but wouldn’t come with any extra pay. Free labor.”
